GammaDX wins 2 x gold and 2 x silver at annual w3 Awards

GammaDX has been recognised with four awards at the 21st annual w3 Awards: two Gold and two Silver. The wins span an AI-first platform for Australian horticulture, a real-time outage map for one of NSW's largest electricity distributors, and a new digital experience for a leading data and AI consultancy.

The w3 Awards are one of the most established international programs for digital work, judged by a panel of senior practitioners from brands such as Netflix, Disney, IBM and Microsoft. Seeing three very different client projects scored against that standard, in the same year, tells us something about where digital experience is heading and how we're building for it.

About the w3 Awards

The w3 Awards recognise excellence in websites, digital marketing, video, mobile, social, podcasts and, increasingly, AI experiences. Now in their 21st season, they attract thousands of entries each year from agencies, in-house teams and brands around the world.

Entries are judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), an invitation-only body of more than 500 industry leaders from organisations including Netflix, Disney, Microsoft, IBM and New York University. Judges don't rank entries against each other. Each piece is assessed on its own merit against category-specific criteria and a defined standard of excellence, which means a category can have several winners or none at all.

Work is scored out of 10:

Gold is reserved for work scoring generally 9 or above, the highest standard of achievement in the program.

Silver recognises work scoring generally between 7 and 8.9.

This year's theme, "Built to ___", asked entrants to show what their work was built to do. It's a useful lens for our projects, each of which was built to solve a specific, measurable problem for the people who use it.

The winning projects

Hort Innovation: An AI-First Digital Experience for all of Horticulture (2 x Gold)

Hort Innovation invests in research, development and marketing on behalf of Australia's horticulture industry, and its website serves growers, researchers, industry partners and government. The challenge was making a large body of research, reports and program information easy to find for audiences with very different needs.

We rebuilt the platform on Sitecore XM Cloud and made AI central to how people use it. A conversational search and Q&A experience, grounded in Hort Innovation's own published content, lets users ask questions in plain language and get direct, sourced answers rather than a list of links. Behind the scenes, the migration included a large-scale redirect mapping exercise to protect search visibility and keep years of research accessible.

The judges recognised the project with Gold in both the AI Chatbot & Conversational Interface and Non-Profit categories.

Keeping Communities Connected, In Real Time: Endeavour Energy (Silver)

Endeavour Energy powers homes and businesses across Western Sydney, the Blue Mountains, the Southern Highlands and the Illawarra. When the power goes out, the outage map is often the first place customers go, and it has to be accurate, fast and available at exactly the moment demand spikes.

We built a real-time outage map that brings live network data into a clear, map-based experience. Customers can find their address, see current and planned outages, and understand what's happening in their area without calling the contact centre. The platform is engineered for storm-scale demand, with performance and resilience treated as core features of the customer experience.

Where Data Becomes Decision: The New Altis Consulting Digital Experience (Silver)

Altis Consulting is a data and AI consultancy working with organisations across Australia and New Zealand, including Qantas, Sydney Airport, SBS and Pfizer. Its new website needed to reflect a firm that turns complex data into clear business decisions.

We delivered a new digital experience with a bold visual identity, sharper positioning and a clear path from insight to engagement. The result presents Altis's expertise in data strategy, cloud platforms and AI with the clarity its clients expect from the work itself.

What's next

Awards are a moment, but the direction behind them is what matters. Customers now expect websites to answer questions, not just hold information, and to reflect what's happening right now, not what was published last month. AI-native search, conversational interfaces and real-time data are quickly becoming the baseline for enterprise digital experience.

That's where GammaDX is focused. As a Gold Partner of both Sitecore and Optimizely, we combine enterprise DXP delivery with AI built into the platform from day one, so our clients' digital experiences keep getting smarter after launch.

Thank you to our clients at Hort Innovation, Endeavour Energy and Altis Consulting for the trust and collaboration behind this work, and to the GammaDX team for delivering it.
